Some find it hard to believe when Rockford resident, Beatrice Taylor tells people her age–this year reaching another milestone birthday of 107! The avid gambler and grandmother of six just voted in her 20th presidential election, enjoys spending time with her friends and family, and recently returned from a dinner at the White House!
This year, Luxury Bath of Rockford gave Beatrice Taylor a special birthday gift. Her bathroom was in serious need of a bath remodel to allow her to remain in her home and bathe independently. With Beatrice’s old bathroom she found it impossible to step over the high threshold of the bathtub and move around the cramped quarters with a walker.
And Beatrice is not alone. As Americans are living longer, more are indicating a preference for spending their senior years in their own homes. In a recent AARP housing survey, 83 percent of respondents said they want to stay in their current homes for the rest of their lives. The growing population of Americans 65 and older—a figure expected to more than double to 89 million by 2050—has inspired businesses like Luxury Bath to find innovative ways to help Americans age more gracefully in their homes.
Luxury Bath of Rockford’s owner Robert St.Clair called upon his trusted suppliers, including their own franchisor Luxury Bath, as well as window manufacturer Window World, and Robert’s nephew Mark St.Clair owner of Smeltzer Clearwater Plumbing, to assist in the bath remodel of Beatrice’s bathroom.
“Beatrice was struggling with bathing in her own home, a problem we encounter quite frequently with our older customers,” says Robert St.Clair, “it was my mission to help her regain her bathing freedom, and live her life in her home.”
Robert and his team were able to complete the bath remodel in less than a week, by replacing the tub with a barrier free shower, removing an old bathroom closet, updating the sink and tile floor, and adding safety grab-bars. The bath remodel was dramatic as now Beatrice Taylor has a bathroom that ensures her bathroom safety and security.
Luxury Bath’s product lines are aesthetically pleasing and functionally accessible. With a committed focus on bathing freedom and independence, Luxury Bath’s bath remodel can replace customer’s high sided tubs with accessible showers or even walk-in tubs.
